Sketch Colour Design Repeat….not always in that order but in a basic way that sums up my process.
COLOUR and DESIGN
These are usually combined…often I have a couple of colours in mind and add or adapt depending on the brief. Design could also be composition, this is my favourite part connecting all the piece and almost always this work is fleshed out in Illustrator and Photoshop.
Tip: if drawing animals look for flowers and leaves from their natural habitat it can help bring the design together.
and hopefully something good comes at the end…
Over the past few weeks, whilst the weather was still fine, I sat watching the bees buzzing around catching the last of the nectar. Our garden is in a dip so whilst we take a few weeks longer to warm up in spring the flip side of this is our autumns feel a few weeks longer and we still had lots of flowers and autumnal colour. Shame it doesn’t last just a bit longer.
Happy days are here again…okay happy bear faces with fantastic colours of pink, blue, yellow and bear brown are here.
Meet the whole collection of bear fabrics with coordinating polka dot “freckle” fabric and a tribal print to complete the look over at our new fabric shop.
More fabric coming soon.
Today the light filled the studio along with flowers, fabric swatches and fun times.
The fabric is a sneak peek at a new line available at Modern Yardage…as soon as it is online I will shout it out! Love this colours! Yay!
Never one to miss the action…..love baby cakes!

I have been hunting through a lot of fabric lately, designing new fabric patterns and looking for some pretty patterns for making my own crib sheets, gathering inspiration from coloured pencils, ribbons, hearts and playing with different shapes cut from scraps of textiles.
I like working with different materials sometimes, getting away from purely drawing or digital work, gives a different perspective sometimes and it’s fun!

Been a few days since I could post any designs on the blog, work behind the scenes continues with new collections set in various directions which is fantastic news but none that I can share at the moment.
What I can share is my bird and leaf prints, summer came and went, then came again and then disappeared with the storm so I drew a few little birds with what looks like scarves and a bunch of leaves and petals that fluttered about in the winds! Hope you have more days of sun than we have, although I have to admit to liking the warm rain! Not picnic weather but great for a stroll!

My last post was about too much to do, this kind of reflects that need for a break sometimes and that it is never a bad thing to stop, step away from the computer or the art board and listen to the birds for a while!
