Sketch Colour Design Repeat
On 18, Feb 2019 | No Comments | In Business Talk, My Pattern and Print, surface pattern design | By patternandco
Sketch Colour Design Repeat….not always in that order but in a basic way that sums up my process.
SKETCH
COLOUR and DESIGN
These are usually combined…often I have a couple of colours in mind and add or adapt depending on the brief. Design could also be composition, this is my favourite part connecting all the piece and almost always this work is fleshed out in Illustrator and Photoshop.
Tip: if drawing animals look for flowers and leaves from their natural habitat it can help bring the design together.
and hopefully something good comes at the end…

Bees in the meadow
On 23, Nov 2018 | No Comments | In Inspired by, My Pattern and Print, surface pattern design, Working from home | By patternandco
Over the past few weeks, whilst the weather was still fine, I sat watching the bees buzzing around catching the last of the nectar. Our garden is in a dip so whilst we take a few weeks longer to warm up in spring the flip side of this is our autumns feel a few weeks longer and we still had lots of flowers and autumnal colour. Shame it doesn’t last just a bit longer.

Spring alternative colours
On 24, Mar 2014 | No Comments | In Colour Crush, Inspired by, My Pattern and Print, Notes from the Sketch Book | By patternandco
Spring is a little fickle at the moment, one day glorious sunshine and green leaves budding with blooms in full floweriness and the next day, cold and grey and soggy fallen petals. So ever the optimist lets shout out SPRING with a new collection of patterns and colours inspired from a few blooms I have outside.

I have been hunting through a lot of fabric lately, designing new fabric patterns and looking for some pretty patterns for making my own crib sheets, gathering inspiration from coloured pencils, ribbons, hearts and playing with different shapes cut from scraps of textiles.
I like working with different materials sometimes, getting away from purely drawing or digital work, gives a different perspective sometimes and it’s fun!

Celebrating a new collection – Happily Ever After! Pretty floral patterns and designs that will be available on stationery, cards and prints soon!
Following the theme and the reason the blog has been a bit quiet over the past week is because we have another celebration, our wedding day is next week – our own little happily ever after! Wish us luck!

Textured Blooms
On 09, May 2013 | No Comments | In My Pattern and Print | By patternandco
The day started one way and ended another! I have worked on new designs in several different colourways, they are under wraps for the moment until they go into production with THE company! YAY!
So I thought I would take some time out to design for the A-Z of flowers. Working on the letter H at the moment and my first thought was of Hellebores! I love their colours combinations from chocolates to cherry purples, pinks, white and lime green…..but this happened instead, a combination of textures and floral blooms and I love the outcome.
Hellebores on the other hand were definitely not working today and can wait for tomorrow, some days you have to go with the flow and apparently I am still on a vintage fling. Happy days!
These are also number 29 for the #365patterns a day challenge! This is a collaborative event with lots of designers, to see the collection of patterns and for more details drop by the caravan blog and check out more of my patterns on instagram (patternandco)

……Geranium.
I was inspecting some of the early geraniums and if you look closely at their petals they have these wonderful pattern of veins.
I even made co-ordinates….
And not strictly a geranium colour but it looks fab in yellow and grey too
